Cooley, Manson and Othmann hurt: Oct. 28 injuries and our waiver targets

Devin Cooley left the game in Edmonton, so did Josh Manson and Brennan Othmann, and Warren Foegele is a worry in Ottawa. Here's what to do with your pool team, plus four names to check on the waiver wire.

Only four games on Wednesday, but the trainers were busy. If you roster a Flames goalie or an Avalanche defenseman, give this two minutes.

Devin Cooley exits in Edmonton

The Flames goalie was run over in his crease by Colton Dach late in the first period. He gave up one goal on eight shots and didn't come back. Daily Faceoff and TVA Sports call it a lower-body injury. Dustin Wolf took over and stopped 20 of 23 in a 4-0 loss.

Cooley came in riding four straight wins and a .955 save percentage over his last four starts, according to RDS. Brutal timing for the guy everybody was talking about.

Pool take: if you have Cooley, hold him until the Flames give an update. Wolf is the goalie to watch if this drags on, but be careful: he's 1-4-0 with an .839 save percentage this season per the NHL. Calgary hosts Seattle on Friday.

Josh Manson and Brennan Othmann hurt too

In Denver, Josh Manson left the game against New Jersey with a lower-body injury and didn't return, per Daily Faceoff. In Edmonton, Brennan Othmann suffered an upper-body injury after a fight with Ty Emberson.

Pool take: Othmann has no points in six games, so no impact there. For Colorado, Sam Malinski played 21:11 and picked up two assists. If Manson misses time, Malinski could see even more.

Warren Foegele is a worry in Ottawa

On Tuesday in Las Vegas, Warren Foegele had to be helped off the ice after a knee-on-knee hit from Jeremy Lauzon. Coach Travis Green had no update after the game. Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Citizen writes that the Senators will likely have to recall a forward from Belleville for Thursday's game in Los Angeles.

Pool take: wait for the official word. Ottawa isn't scoring much lately, and Garrioch also reports that Steve Staios is working the phones for a scorer (details in our rumors section).

The good news

  • Mattias Ekholm returned from his concussion and scored in his first game back.
  • Dakota Joshua was activated off long-term injured reserve by Toronto.
  • John Tavares remains week-to-week, per Daily Faceoff.

Four names to check on the wire

  1. Pierre-Luc Dubois (WSH): two assists tonight and 6 points in 6 games per the NHL. He produces whenever he's in the lineup.
  2. Jack St. Ivany (WSH): two assists against the Flyers. A depth blueliner for deep leagues.
  3. Connor Brown (NJD): two goals in Denver, one of them shorthanded. Handy in leagues that count shorthanded points.
  4. Sam Malinski (COL): keep a close eye on him depending on Josh Manson's status.

Every league is different, so check your own wire. But if one of these names is sitting there, he could help you this week.
