Big 11 game slate on Thursday night. Before you set your lineup, here's what changed since last night and what it means for your pool team.
Jakub Dobes gets the net in Dallas
It's official: the Canadiens announced Jakub Dobes will start Thursday night against the Stars. That's a tough draw. Dobes is 1-2-2 with an .847 save percentage in five games, per the NHL. Jacob Fowler, meanwhile, is 6-1-0 with a .942 save percentage and two shutouts in seven starts.
Pool take: if you roster Dobes, this is a risky start against a strong home team. In daily leagues, bench him without a second thought. Fowler is still the Montreal goalie you want. And per David Pagnotta, the Canadiens aren't in a rush to fix their three goalie logjam (details on our rumors page). On the Dallas side, Sam Steel could be back, per Daily Faceoff.
Is Thomas Chabot back in Los Angeles?
Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Citizen writes that the Senators could have their full blue line healthy for the first time this season against the Kings. Putting Cameron Crotty on waivers signals Thomas Chabot is ready after missing four games. A league executive even told Garrioch that Crotty could get claimed, with Toronto a possibility. Waivers end at 2 p.m.
Up front it's less rosy. Warren Foegele appeared to hurt his knee Tuesday in Las Vegas and Ottawa needs to recall a forward. Coach Travis Green is expected to give an update after the morning skate.
Pool take: Chabot has 4 points in 9 games, including one on the power play. If he's sitting on your waiver wire, go get him now. For Foegele, wait for Green's update before you make a move.
Josh Manson will miss time in Colorado
Jared Bednar confirmed after Wednesday's game that Josh Manson will "miss some time" with a lower-body injury. No timeline yet. Daily Faceoff expects Noah Juulsen to draw in, and the Avalanche don't play again until Saturday against Calgary.
Pool take: Manson (4 points in 13 games) wasn't a big producer. The name to remember is Sam Malinski: 5 assists and a plus 9 in 12 games, and he could inherit more ice time. A nice option in deep leagues.
Red Wings host Chicago
Relax about Dylan Larkin: his recent missed practice was a maintenance day, not an injury, per The Hockey Writers. Albert Johansson will sit out Thursday's game though, and coach Todd McLellan says Marco Kasper and Mason Appleton are about two weeks away.
Pool take: Larkin plays tonight, so keep him in your lineup. His name is all over the trade rumor mill right now, but until something actually happens, he's a top line center you keep starting.
The rest of tonight's goalies
As of this writing, Dobes is the only confirmed starter tonight. The rest will be announced after morning skates and we'll update this story through the day.
