A second shutout this season for Jacob Fowler, a first NHL goal for Florian Xhekaj and two assists for Mike Matheson in St. Louis.

The game

The Montreal Canadiens won 2-0 at Enterprise Center on Tuesday night even though the St. Louis Blues outshot them 46-20. Jacob Fowler stopped everything, including 24 shots in the third period. It's a career high and his second shutout of the season.

Zachary Bolduc opened the scoring in the second period with a one-timer from the right circle, his fifth goal of the season and his first against his former team. Florian Xhekaj made it 2-0 early in the third by tipping a Mike Matheson shot. It's his first NHL goal.

What poolers should know

  • Jacob Fowler: 6-1-0 with a 1.54 GAA and a .942 save percentage in 7 starts according to the NHL. He's turning into a true number one goalie. If he's still available in your pool, now is the time.
  • Mike Matheson: two assists in 23:25 of ice time, up to 4 points in 8 games.
  • Zachary Bolduc: 5 goals in 12 games. A right winger to watch in deep pools.
  • Florian Xhekaj: a small role (6:19), so little short-term impact.

For St. Louis, Jordan Binnington made 18 saves. Philip Broberg put 6 shots on goal without a point. The Blues have been shut out two games in a row.

Next game

Montreal (7-3-2) visits the Dallas Stars on Thursday night.
