A strong return
Traded by the
Winnipeg Jets four days earlier, Connor Hellebuyck played his first game of the season on Tuesday. The Jets had suspended him for not reporting to camp. The
New Jersey Devils won 5-1 in Dallas and Hellebuyck stopped 17 of 18 shots according to the official NHL boxscore. The Stars had the best goals against average in the league going into the game.
Pool impact
- Hellebuyck is a top goalie to draft or claim right away again. According to ESPN, veteran Jake Allen is the only other goalie on the Devils roster, so the workload should be heavy.
- Nico Hischier: two goals, 7 goals in 12 games, the team lead.
- Jack Hughes and Luke Hughes: a goal and an assist each. Jack had 6 shots on goal.
- Luke Evangelista: one assist. ESPN describes him on the top line with Hischier and Timo Meier and on a top power play unit. A winger to keep an eye on.
- Arseny Gritsyuk: one assist, 10 points in 12 games.
The schedule
The Devils are starting a three-game trip that also goes through Colorado and Vegas, according to ESPN. The Dallas game opened a back-to-back, so watch who starts in goal next.
